The council had specifically requested information on
21 taxes generated by development as well as activities underway to attract
22 commercial/industrial development and housing to the city. She also has outlined the
23 current status of the Legacy properties as well as recent staff activity in that regard. She
24 discussed the tax forfeit process (current status) as well as marketing efforts.
25
26 The mayor suggested that the city consider whether a broker is needed to work on sale of
27 the property but staff indicated that a broker is a difficult element since the ownership of
28 the property is with Anoka County and there isn't a clear way to pay for a broker. A buyer with a letter of intent to
41 purchase the property has contacted the city. The area in question is zoned general
42 business. The developer is interested in building 18,000 square feet of commercial/retail
43 including a liquor store and convenience store, both allowed uses, the convenience store
44 with a conditional use permit.
L, 45
1
