Liability insurance for certain Blue Heron Days events—Economic Development
82 Coordinator Divine reported on the matter of liability and insurance related to the events included in
83 the 2010 Blue Heron Days festival. The city maintains insurance through the League of Minnesota
84 Cities Insurance Trust. Staff works with the festival organization, this year the Lino Lakes Lions, and
85 determines what events will be included in the festival, where they will be located (for instance on
86 city property) and whether event operators are able to provide insurance. Some of the events will be
87 covered by the city's League insurance without additional city expense as laid out in the staff report.
88 There could of course be some additional exposure to claims with the coverage. Staff is asking if the
89 council wishes to provide the insurance coverage (as they have in past years)for certain Blue Heron
90 Days festival events.
2
