COUNCIL MINUTES September 27,2010 <br /> APPROVED <br /> 46 <br /> 47 FINANCE DEPARTMENT REPORT, AL ROLEK <br /> 48 <br /> 49 There was no report from the Finance Department. <br /> 50 <br /> 51 ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAN TESCH <br /> 52 <br /> 53 There was no report from the Administration Department. <br /> 54 <br /> 55 PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT, KENT STREGE <br /> 56 <br /> 57 Item 4A, Consider acceptance of Citizen Corps Grant-Chief Strege explained that the Police <br /> 58 Department is requesting permission to accept a Citizen Corps grant from the state Department of <br /> 59 Public Safety. The grant amount of$19,196.88 would be utilized for staff CPR training, equipment <br /> 60 and staff time for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)and an increase in hours for <br /> 61 the Community Resource Coordinator position. <br /> 62 <br /> 63 The Mayor noted that the item was thoroughly discussed by the council at a work session. The <br /> 64 council heard that there are no matching funds required and received clarification that the expanded <br /> 65 hours won't be automatically carried forward past the grant period. <br /> 66 <br /> 67 Council Member Rafferty moved to approve acceptance of the grant as requested and with the <br /> 68 understanding that after 2011, the Community Resource Coordinator position will revert to the <br /> �- 69 current 30 hour per week schedule. Council Member Roeser seconded the motion. Motion carried on <br /> 70 a unanimous voice vote. <br /> 71 <br /> 72 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT, RICK DEGARDNER <br /> 73 <br /> 74 Item 5A, Resolution No. 10-84, Office of Energy Security Grant Award-Public Services <br /> 75 Director DeGardner reported on the city's recent award for Office of Energy Security Grant funds that <br /> 76 would help to fund energy improvement projects in three city buildings. In reviewing each proposed <br /> 77 project, he explained the current and proposed mechanical systems, the potential for energy savings <br /> 78 with improvements and the costs associated with each. <br /> 79 <br /> 80 Since the matter had been fully discussed at the September 7 council work session, there were no <br /> 81 questions posed. <br /> 82 <br /> 83 It was noted by the mayor that the match requirement for the grant is coming from funds received <br /> 84 through antenna revenue. Staff was commended for having the foresight to set revenue funds aside <br /> 85 for projects such as this and also being aware of this grant and taking advantage of the opportunity. <br /> 86 <br /> 87 Council Member O'Donnell moved to approve Resolution No. 10-84, accepting the grants, as <br /> 88 presented. Council Member Gallup seconded the motion. Motion carried on a unanimous voice vote. <br /> 89 <br /> 90 <br />
