COUNCIL MINUTES January 26, 2009 <br /> APPROVED <br /> 1 CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> 2 MINUTES <br /> 3 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> 4 January 26, 2009 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 TIME STARTED : 6:35 p.m. <br /> 7 TIME ENDED : 7:10 p.m. <br /> 8 MEMBERS PRESENT : Council Member Reinert, O'Donnell and <br /> 9 Mayor Bergeson <br /> 10 MEMBERS ABSENT : Council Member Stoltz and Gallup <br /> 11 <br /> 12 Staff members present: City Administrator, Gordon Heitke; City Attorney, Joseph Langel; <br /> 13 Community Development Director, Michael Grochala; Public Safety Director, Dave Pecchia; City <br /> 14 Planner, Paul Bengtson; Environmental Coordinator, Marty Asleson; and City Clerk, Julie Bartell. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> 17 <br /> 18 There was no one present for public comment. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Recognition of Officer Tim Ross—A plaque was presented to Officer Ross by Mayor Bergeson <br /> 21 and Police Chief Pecchia, in recognition of Mr. Ross' 30 years of service to the City of Lino <br /> 22 Lakes. <br /> 23 <br /> `— 24 State Representative Bob Dettmer—Representative Dettmer reported on his work at the State <br /> 25 Legislature, including his service on the K-12 Education Finance, Higher Education Workforce, <br /> 26 Property Tax, Rules and Veterans Affairs committees. He especially pointed out his goal to get <br /> 27 repealed and reworked the Green Acres legislation, as well as his work on veterans affairs in <br /> 28 honor of the nations service men and women. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 State Senator Ray Vandeveer—Senator Vandeveer noted his involvement with the work to <br /> 31 improve the aforementioned Green Acres legislation. He pointed out that the state is facing a <br /> 32 huge budget deficit and that he understands that the city faces difficulties related to the state's <br /> 33 unallotment of HCVA funds. He urged the city to be prepared for additional losses of that type <br /> 34 of funding in 2009. In addition Mr. Vandeveer pointed out that he is working on a watershed <br /> 35 reform bill that could address the lack of oversight that sometimes occurs with watershed district <br /> 36 governance and the issue of taxes being levied by the group without elected representation. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 SETTING THE AGENDA <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Item 8A was removed from the agenda and will be considered at the next regular meeting. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 CONSENT AGENDA <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Council Member O'Donnell moved to approve the Consent Agenda.
