Improve the Wargo Site Experience: Improve External Physical Connections <br />• A northern connection to the YMCA would be great. Potential to finance with a T21 grant or <br />other grants? (reminder: snowmobiles cannot go on boardwalks) <br />• Strengthen water connection to the Group Campsite <br />• Shared surface entry road could work and should be pursued! <br />Improve the Wargo Site Experience: Expand Access <br />• Abandon the managed forest idea, consider a compost interpretation/demonstration site <br />instead <br />• Still resistant to abandoning the gate altogether, but like the idea of moving it further west <br />• Consider a boardwalk loop connecting the main peninsula area to the entry drive thru the <br />wetlands north east of the building and a trail thru the uplands area near the compost site. <br />Improve the Wargo Site Experience: Enhance the sense of Place <br />• Need to check feasibility and soils for adding driveway to the garage -Jeff thinks they are <br />hydric soils that won't support a drive. <br />• Consensus was to keep access trail to backside/first floor of basement but make it more <br />trail -like <br />Improve the Wargo Site Experience: Improve the Heritage Site <br />• Adding parking facilities at the Heritage site would be fine. <br />• There is a permanent climbing wall going in at the Heritage Site this fall <br />• Staff really liked the look and scale of the classroom shelter precedent <br />Improve Entry and Sense of Welcome: Create a Natural Experience <br />• No objections to what was proposed <br />Improve the Nature Center Building <br />• Staff really liked the rearrangement of the reception desk and the enhanced reading <br />/reference nook over the first level. <br />• Some resistance to moving staff space to the area next to the utility room; concern about <br />noise and access to utility sink/cleaning suppies.
