He noted that unfortunate circumstances have resulted in the direction <br /> of reducing our staffing levels to one Recreation Supervisor moving forward as of <br /> January 8 , 2018 . Recreation Supervisor Brian Hronski will now be directly overseeing <br /> i <br /> all aspects of programming. The Board discussed the programs for 2018 . The <br /> Recreation Department will continue to offer many of our well attended quality <br /> programs and special events. <br /> I Recommend 2018 Parks & Trails Capital Projects <br /> i <br /> Mr. DeGardner informed the Board that in the 2018 budget, the City Council <br /> i <br /> designated $500,000 for parks and trails capital projects. He included in the packet: <br /> • Existing Parks Asset Worksheet <br /> • New Assets of Existing Parks Worksheet <br /> Trail Projects Needing Funding Worksheet <br /> Existing Playground Equipment Replacement Timeline Worksheet <br /> Mr. DeGardner requested the Park Board determine a method to prioritize potential <br /> parks and tail projects and determine what public process should occur in relation to <br /> these projects. <br /> Chair Pat Huelman, Clark Gooder and the Board members discussed timelines with <br /> Mr. DeGardner. These timelines will include determining projects, going out for plans <br /> and specs, gathering project bids and final costs, having a public review process, and <br /> going to the City Council for approval. <br /> The Board discussed the needs for trail improvements in depth. They also discussed <br /> park use, future needs parking and facilities, safety issues, heavily used assets, new <br /> equipment needs and looking at overall park foundations . They noted the need to be <br /> strategic in addressing the needs of all ages and user types, short term and long term <br /> opportunities and also balancing locations around the City. <br /> Chair Pat Huelman mentioned setting priorites based on need and demand then on <br /> balance and distribution around the City. <br /> The Board discussed including an article in the Spring/Summer City Newsletter <br /> inviting residents to the upcoming Park Board meetings thus providing the public a <br /> Park Board Minutes <br /> January 8, 2018 <br /> Page 12 <br />
