CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4B <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Public Safety Director <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: March 14, 2016 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Donate Seized Property to Bikes for Kids <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The City of Lino Lakes Ordinance 213.07 authorizes the Public Safety Department to dispose <br />of unclaimed property in a manner authorized by a majority vote of the City Council. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />As part of the continued management of police division property and evidence room, staff <br />identified the below listed bicycles for disposal. <br /> <br />1. 14-229762 – Bicycle serial number FSD06A52073 <br />2. 14-241941 – Bicycle serial number 8204-71-2011.12.23 <br />3. 15-222458 – Bicycle serial number 366-670 <br />4. 15-227108 - Bicycle serial number S2600TG <br />5. 15-133589 – Bicycle serial number SNFSD14EK3796 <br />6. 15-335588 - Bicycle serial number U345PO367C <br />7. 15-198002 - Bicycle serial number G11110243371 <br />8. 15-127506 - Bicycle serial number R90946242 <br />9. 15-208383 - Bicycle serial number SNU12xk10766 <br />10. 15-001939 - Bicycle serial number 8204-71-2011.12.28 <br />11. RA15300026 - Bicycle serial number M000816043 <br />12. RA15300538 – Bicycle serial number SNFSD13AB8099 <br />13. RA15300382 - Bicycle serial number CJ924417 <br /> <br />All related court and investigative matters has been completed. Staff has complied with all <br />statuary obligations to notify all concerned parties and received no communications related to <br />any of these cases or the related property. <br /> <br />Previous unclaimed bicycles have been sent to Propertyroom.com to be sold but none of the <br />bicycles sold which resulted in all of the bicycles being destroyed and the City paying the cost. <br /> <br />Staff has researched other options to eliminate the expense of destroying the unclaimed <br />bicycles and has found a non-profit organization called Bikes for Kids based in Ham Lake, <br />MN. This non-profit organization refurbishes donated bicycles and provides them to kids in <br />need in Anoka County and throughout the world. Click here to visit their website. <br /> <br />
