CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: March 14, 2016 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 16-15, Authorizing <br />Acquisition of Permanent Easement, Well No. 6 <br />Pump House Improvements <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting council action to authorize acquisition of easements for utility purposes to <br />service the Well No. 6 Pump House. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City Council took action on October 26, 2015 to order the Well No. 6 Pump House <br />improvements. <br /> <br />As part of the project three-phase electrical service will be extended from Birch Street to service <br />the pump house. To avoid yard/driveway along Pheasant Run South staff is proposing to acquire <br />a drainage and utility easement through an existing agricultural area to the east. This utility <br />corridor would also serve a future need to extend a trunk water main from Birch Street to the <br />new well. The proposed land area and acquisition amount are as follows: <br /> <br />Easement Type Size (Sq. Ft.) Amount <br />Permanent 24,991 $11,800.00 <br /> <br />WSB and Associates have prepared the appraisal report and will work through the acquisition <br />process with the property owner on behalf of the City. A final agreement with the property <br />owner will be brought back to the council for approval. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 16-15. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />1.
