<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6E <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: April 11, 2016 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 16-24 Approving the Plans & <br />Specifications and Authorizing the Ad for Bid, 2016 Mill and <br />Overlay Project <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting Council approve of plans and specifications and authorizing advertisement for <br />bids for the 2016 Mill and Overlay Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In accordance with the City’s Pavement Management Plan, streets are identified for annual <br />maintenance. The City uses a pavement rating review to annually analyze the conditions of the <br />City’s streets and recommend segments that meet the maintenance requirements. Streets are <br />selected for maintenance based on pavement management criteria, input from Public Works, and <br />feasibility of locations. <br /> <br />The proposed project includes Holly Drive, Holly Court, and Old Birch Street (north/south <br />section). It is recommended to complete a full depth reclamation or mill and overlay. The budget <br />for the project is $350,000. <br /> <br />The schedule for this project is as follows: <br />City Council Order Project, Authorizes Plans and Specifications March 14, 2016 <br />City Council Approves Plans and Specifications April 11, 2016 <br />City Council Authorizes Ad for Bids April 11, 2016 <br />City Open Bids May 11, 2016 <br />City Council Awards Contract May 23, 2016 <br />Construction Begins May 27, 2016 <br />Final Completion August 28, 2016 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 16-24 Approving the Plans & Specifications, <br />Authorizing the Ad for Bid, 2016 Mill and Overlay Project. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />1.
