CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Public Safety Director <br />MEETING DATE: June 26, 2017 <br />TOPIC: Hire Paid On-Call Firefighter <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is requesting council approval to hire a paid on-call <br />firefighter. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />As directed by Council Resolution 14-50 staff is integrating fire operations into the Public <br />Safety Department. Staff has been engaged in a fire recruiting and hiring process for paid on- <br />call firefighter candidates as part of the integration process. <br /> <br />The hiring process has been extensive including an interview process, background investigation, <br />medical examinations, and drug screen. This process has identified candidates that will <br />continue the Public Safety Department’s proud tradition of delivering high quality services <br />to the Lino Lakes Community. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends the Council approve the hiring of Jacob Cree for the position of paid on- <br />call firefighter effective July 1, 2017. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />None
