Specific discussion topics at the meeting will included: <br /> <br />1. Transportation Plan Components – WSB and City staff reviewed the primary components of the <br />Transportation Plan. <br /> <br />2. Transportation Issues — The Planning & Zoning Board was asked to provide input on general <br />and specific transportation issues and concerns. The following items were discussed: <br /> <br />General Issues and Concerns <br /> <br />• Growing congestion on regional routes such as I -35W and I-35E causing diversion of traffic to <br />county roads and local streets. <br />• Increasing traffic and infrastructure needs due to urbanization of the develop ing areas of Lino <br />Lakes, particularly in areas west and southeast of the regional park reserve within the city. <br />• Changing transportation needs due to an aging population. <br />• Increasing competition for space among modes (i.e., vehicles and bicycle/pedestrian in terests). <br />• Limited financial resources needed to maintain and improve the transportation systems as <br />costs are expected to increase. <br />• Driverless (automated) vehicles. <br />• Improve existing roadways – expansion, quality of existing roadways <br />• Maintaining roadways – pavement management <br />• Road width/narrowing, should it be considered? Policy statement design considerations, <br />complete streets program, one size does not fit all. <br />• Traffic calming – Traffic safety policy <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
