<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6E <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: October 09, 2017 <br /> <br />TOPIC : Resolution No. 17-112, Accepting Quotes and Awarding a <br />Construction Contract, 2017 Surface Water Maintenance Project <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting authorization to accept quotes and award the construction contract for the <br />2017 Surface Water Maintenance Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City’s annual Surface Water Management program addresses areas in need of maintenance, <br />and conforms with the City’s Surface Water Pollution and Prevention Plan. The proposed <br />maintenance for this year includes cleaning of storm sewer outfalls, removal of vegetation and <br />sediment deltas in stormwater ponds, minor pond excavation and storm sewer structure <br />repair/replacement. Sites are selected for maintenance based on public input, input from Public <br />Works, and feasibility of locations. <br /> <br />Quotes were received for the above-referenced project on September 29, 2017. The quotes were <br />checked for mathematical accuracy and tabulated. <br /> <br /> <br />CONTRACTOR TOTAL QUOTE <br />Olson’s Sewer Service, Inc. $84,577.92 <br />CW Houle, Inc. Did not quote. <br />Penn Contracting Inc. Did not quote. <br />North Pine Aggregate Did not quote. <br /> <br />The low quote was submitted by Olson’s Sewer Service, Inc., Forest Lake, Minnesota, in the <br />amount of $84,577.92. The 2017 General Fund Streets Budget includes $125,000 for Surface <br />Water Maintenance projects.
