CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Karissa Bartholomew, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: October 23, 2017 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Appointment of Parks Maintenance Worker <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Randy Brandt for the vacant Parks <br />Maintenance Worker position in the Public Services Department. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Mr. Brandt has seven years of experience in public works parks and holds certifications in turf <br />maintenance, tree inspection, and playground safety. He currently works full-time in the City of <br />Victoria in parks/ trails/ and street maintenance. <br /> <br />The hourly rate of pay would be $24.45, which is step 2 of the union wage schedule. Mr. Brandt <br />will begin employment on November 7, 2017. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve the appointment of Randy Brandt for the Parks Maintenance Worker position. <br />
