CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 6B STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer MEETING DATE: November 13, 2017 TOPIC : Consider Resolution No. 17-128, Payment of Final Pay Voucher No. 4, 2016 Aqua Lane to Black Duck Drive Trunk Water Main Project VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 INTRODUCTION Staff is requesting council authorization for the Final Pay Voucher No. 4 in the amount of $65,834.03 to GM Contracting, Inc. for the construction for the 2016 Aqua Lane to Black Duck Drive Trunk Water Main Project. BACKGROUND The construction contract for the 2016 Aqua Lane to Black Duck Drive Trunk Water Main Project was awarded to GM Contracting, Inc. on September 26, 2016 in the amount of $1,077,549.82. The project included the following: • The extension of a 12 inch diameter trunk water main directionally drilled from Aqua Lane to Black Duck Drive. This improvement provided a secondary line to serve the northwest portion of the City, and it loops the City’s system improving pressure and flow. • The extension of a 3 inch diameter sanitary sewer forcemain directionally drilled from the intersection of West Shadow Lake Drive and Sandpiper Drive to Black Duck Drive. It was cost effective to extend this utility at the same time as the water mian. This utility was installed for future extension down West Shadow Lake Drive. • A 12 inch diameter trunk water main connection from Well No. 6 to Birch Street. The water main is being extended to strengthen the system. The construction project is complete, and the final construction cost was $1,030,025.09. The project was under budget, and we hereby recommend that the City of Lino Lakes approve payment of Final Construction Pay Voucher No. 4 to GM Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $65,834.03. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 17-128 Approving payment of Pay Voucher 4 (final) to GM Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $65,834.03 for the 2016 Aqua Lane to Black Duck Drive Trunk Water Main Project.
