CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 6G STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer MEETING DATE: November 27, 2017 TOPIC: Resolution No. 17-138, Accepting Quotes and Awarding a Construction Contract, Surface Water Maintenance Project – Block 3, Pheasant Hills Preserve 5th Addition VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required INTRODUCTION Staff is requesting authorization to accept quotes and award the construction contract for a Surface Water Maintenance Project, Block 3 - Pheasant Hills Preserve 5th Addition. BACKGROUND The City’s annual Surface Water Management program addresses areas in need of maintenance, and conforms with the City’s Surface Water Pollution and Prevention Plan. Sites are selected for maintenance based on public input, input from Public Works, and feasibility of locations. The City received a storm water maintenance request to resolve a backyard drainage issue in the Pheasant Hills Preserve 5th Addition. This type of project falls outside of the City’s annual maintenance program. Accordingly, the property owner has agreed to pay 100% of the cost of the improvement. The proposed improvement will include installation of draintile, yard drains, regrading and restoration. An escrow account will be established to secure funds to complete the proposed work. Quotes were received for the above-referenced project on November 13, 2017. The quotes were checked for mathematical accuracy and tabulated. CONTRACTOR TOTAL QUOTE Olson’s Sewer Service, Inc. $19,688.00 Northland Landscape and Construction, Inc. $32,880.00 Penn Contracting Inc. Did not quote. North Pine Aggregate Did not quote. The low quote was submitted by Olson’s Sewer Service, Inc., Forest Lake, Minnesota, in the amount of $19,688.00. An escrow in the amount of 125% of the project cost will be in place prior to award of the contract. The completion date for this project is December 31, 2017.
