COUNCIL MINUTES January 23, 2017 DRAFT 2 Consider approval of 2017 Advisory Bd Appointments Approved 46 47 Consider Resolution No. 17-09, Authorizing Special 48 Event Permit for Snow Golf Event at Trapper’s Bar & 49 Grill on Feb. 18 & 19 Approved 50 51 FINANCE DEPARTMENT REPORT 52 53 There was no report from the Finance Department. 54 55 ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT 56 57 There was no report from the Administration Department. 58 59 PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT 60 61 There was no report from the Public Safety Department. 62 63 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT 64 65 4A) Consider Promotion of Police Officer Sergeant – Public Safety Director Swenson explained 66 that he is seeking council approval of his recommendation to promote Officer Melissa Hagert to the 67 position of Police Sergeant within the Lino Lakes Police Department. The recommendation comes 68 forward through an internal process. The position is included in the approved 2017 budget. 69 70 Council Member Manthey moved to approve the promotion of Officer Hagert as recommended. 71 Council Member Kusterman seconded the motion. Motion adopted on a voice vote. Director 72 Swenson added that Sergeant Hagert will be attending a future council meeting so that the council 73 may recognize the promotion. 74 75 4B) Consider Hiring of Police Officer – Public Safety Director Swenson explained that staff is 76 seeking authorization to hire one police officer to fill the position vacated by the promotion of 77 Melissa Hagert. He reviewed the application and review process used to bring forward the 78 department recommendation. He recommends the hiring of Connor Williams, effective February 13, 79 2017. 80 81 Council Member moved to approve the hiring of Connor Williams as recommended. Council 82 Member Maher seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. 83 84 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT 85 86 There was no report from the Community Development Department. 87 88 89 90
