Wedel, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE : January 28 , 20 13 <br /> <br />TOPIC : Consider Resolution 13 -06, Approving Plans and Specifications and <br />Authorize Advertisement for Bids, Otter Lake Road Improvement <br />Pro ject <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED : 3/5 Vote Required <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />WSB & Associates have completed the final plans for the Otter Lake Road improvement project. <br />Staff is requesting Council approval of the Otter Lake Road Plans and & Specifications and <br />authorization t o advertise for bids. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The background and corresponding dates for this project to date are as follows: <br /> <br />City Council initiated the preparation of a feasibility study May 23, 2011 <br />City Council received the feasibility study and ordered a publ ic hearing January 9, 2012 <br />City Council held public hearing on the proposed improvement February 13, 2012 <br />City Council authorized special benefit study and appraisals February 27, 2012 <br />City Council authorized the preparation of plans and specificatio ns March 12, 2012 <br />City Council ordered the improvement June 25, 2012 <br /> <br />A n esti mated total cost for this project is $732,500 . This estimate includes construction, t he right - <br />of -way acquisition , and soft costs including finance, legal, administrative, and engineering costs. <br />The project is proposed to be primarily funded through assessments to bene fitting property owners. <br />Approximately $80,000 of Municipal State Aid funding has been identified for contingency <br />purposes to address any portion of the proje ct not covered by assessments. <br /> <br />The anticipated schedule for this project moving forward is as follows: <br /> <br />City Council Appro ves Plans and Specifications January 28, 2013 <br />City Council Author izes Ad for Bids January 28, 2013 <br />Open Bids February 27, 2013 <br />City Coun cil Awards Contract March 11 , 2013 <br />Title and Possession of Right of Way April 29, 2013 <br />Construction Begins May 1, 2013 <br />Construction Complete June 30, 2013 <br />
