CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />October 23, 2017 <br />APPROVED <br />1 CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />2 MINUTES <br />3 <br />4 DATE : October 23, 2017 <br />5 TIME STARTED : 6*00 p.m. <br />6 TIME ENDED : 6*25 p.m. <br />7 MEMBERS PRESENT Council Member Rafferty, Kusterman, <br />8 Maher, and Mayor Reinert <br />9 MEMBERS ABSENT Council Member Manthey <br />10 <br />11 Staff members present: City Administrator Jeff Karlson; Public Safety Director John <br />12 Swenson; Community Development Director Michael Grochala; Finance Director Sarah <br />13 Cotton; City Clerk Julie Bartell. <br />14 <br />15 1. Public Safety Department Quarterly Update —Director Swenson reviewed a <br />16 PowerPoint presentation on Public Safety Department activities for the quarter ending <br />17 September 30, 2017. The report includes statistics on cases, calls for service, fire <br />18 division, mutual aid, offenses (by type), arrests (by offense), felony case file submissions <br />19 (to Anoka County) and notable actions and events. <br />20 The council heard about the process underway in the Public Safety Department to <br />21 establish a policy for use of body cameras. <br />22 2017 Areas of Focus: Expand fire prevention, body camera research, Public Safety <br />23 Citizen's Academy, continue training on crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques <br />24 and finishing the training facility at Fire Station No. 2. <br />25 Mayor Reinert asked staff to add discussion of the ACE Program to the next work session <br />26 agenda; it was requested that criminal attorney Olson join in that discussion. <br />27 2.
