Public Safety Department Quarterly Update —Director Swenson reviewed a <br />16 PowerPoint presentation on Public Safety Department activities for the quarter ending <br />17 September 30, 2017. The report includes statistics on cases, calls for service, fire <br />18 division, mutual aid, offenses (by type), arrests (by offense), felony case file submissions <br />19 (to Anoka County) and notable actions and events. <br />20 The council heard about the process underway in the Public Safety Department to <br />21 establish a policy for use of body cameras. <br />22 2017 Areas of Focus: Expand fire prevention, body camera research, Public Safety <br />23 Citizen's Academy, continue training on crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques <br />24 and finishing the training facility at Fire Station No. 2. <br />25 Mayor Reinert asked staff to add discussion of the ACE Program to the next work session <br />26 agenda; it was requested that criminal attorney Olson join in that discussion. <br />27 2.
