Finalize 2018 Parks & Trails Capital Projects Recommendation <br /> The Park Board is in the process of formulating recommendations that will be forwarded <br /> to the City Council . Feedback from the community on this subject is being solicited and <br /> received . <br /> Pat Huelman (Chair) will finalize recommendations and give to Rick DeGardner. <br /> Park Board Comments : <br /> Chair proposed using the money for "wow" factors . He would like to put the money <br /> into getting items done in parks that would really benefit the community and get as <br /> much done as they can. Proposes replacing playground equipment at Sunrise Park and <br /> putting in a hard surface . <br /> Gooder proposed to pave City Hall Park parking lot . <br /> - Levi proposed creating more of a destination type park for Birch and Sunrise . <br /> Proposed that expanding those parks to be a bigger may elevate some pressure of the <br /> smaller parks . Mentioned putting in a zip line . <br /> Gooder spoke to board regarding Arena Acres . Stated residents in that area would like <br /> something in that space where the tennis courts are . Board members discuss putting in <br /> one tennis court in that space instead of two . <br /> DeGardner discusses with Board the funds needed for Birch Park. He stated that the <br /> park equipment itself need to be relocated due to the ground elevation and the <br /> problems that causes . It is proposed to move the structure toward the open shelter and <br /> create a three tiered structure . Looking to combine the two park areas/play structures <br /> into one . <br /> - Chair does mention to the group that he does want Birch playground to be <br /> comparable to North Point . <br /> DeGardner referred to the handout given to Park Board Members at a previous <br /> meeting that lists the top park equipment to be replaced . <br /> City Hall Park was discussed as a high volume area for kids during softball games . <br /> Levi mentioned we should consider the park and repaving the parking lot . Also noted <br /> that trees in that area should not be cut down to make the City Hall Park structure <br /> bigger as those are the only trees in the area that provide shade . <br /> Priority for parks that fill larger community needs (Birch, Sunrise and Lino Parks <br /> noted) <br /> The Board discussed prioritizing projects with consideration of funding approved for <br /> 2018 . <br /> Page 2 <br />
