BOARD OF REVIEW MINUTES <br />April 23, 2018 <br />WROATj 9 1, <br />1 CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />2 MINUTES <br />3 BOARD OF APPEAL AND EQUALIZATION <br />4 <br />5 DATE April 23, 2018 <br />6 TIME STARTED 6:15 p.m. <br />7 TIME ENDED 6:30 p.m. <br />8 MEMBERS PRESENT Council Member Maher, Manthey, Rafferty, Stoesz <br />9 and Mayor Reinert <br />to MEMBERS ABSENT none <br />11 <br />12 Staff members present: City Administrator Jeff Karlson; City Clerk Julie Bartell <br />13 <br />14 Anoka County Assessor Staff present: Scott Schutz, Residential Appraiser; Dan Eichens, <br />15 Commercial/Industrial Appraiser. <br />16 <br />17 Mayor Reinert called the meeting to order. <br />18 <br />19 The council had reviewed the official board report (on file) at a recent work session. <br />20 <br />21 Anoka County Appraiser (residential) Schutz explained the increased valuations seen over the past <br />22 year as recognized in the county recommendations. Lino Lakes has experienced much in the area of <br />23 new construction increases (80%) and median values have increased as indicated in the report. <br />24 <br />25 Council Member Rafferty confirmed that 84 and 152 are the permits numbers. <br />26 <br />27 Mr. Schutz noted that two individuals were present that intended to appeal their valuation. However <br />28 staff has not had the opportunity to work with them and intends to do so. The individuals indicated <br />29 that they are comfortable with that option; the board doesn't need to hear back from them. <br />30 <br />31 Mr. Schutz explained that he heard from several individuals with questions about their valuation, <br />32 however, they did not recontact him nor are they present for the meeting tonight. He will retain the <br />33 names and property numbers for those individuals. <br />34 <br />35 Council Member Manthey confirmed that there were no other individuals wishing to address the <br />36 board. <br />37 <br />38 Dan Eichens, Anoka County Commercial/Industrial Appraiser addressed the council. He noted that <br />39 the owner of the Hampton Inn and Suites in Lino Lakes has contacted the County with a concern <br />40 about that property's valuation. The issue revolved around occupancy and the amount of the property <br />41 valuation increase proposed. Mr. Eichens has worked with the individual and reached a resolution to <br />42 the concern as follows: <br />43 <br />44 Parcel # 08-31-22-34-0022. —resolution agreed upon: valuation reduction of $59,500, to change the <br />45 value to $3,248,000. <br />1 <br />
