PROCLAMATION POLICE WEEK 2013 Chief Swenson announces that National Police Week is May 1 2 through May 18 . Please join the citizens of Lino Lakes in recognizing Police Week 20 13 . WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States of America has designated a ca lendar week of each year during which May 15 occurs as "National Police Week" and May 15th of each year to be "Peace Officers' Memorial Day"; and WHEREA S, the members of the Lino Lakes Police Department play an essential role in safeguarding the rights an d freedoms of the City of Lino Lakes ; and WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, responsibilities, hazards, and sacrifices of their Lino Lakes Police Department , and that members of our law enforcement agency recognize their duty to serve the people by safeguarding life and property, by protecting them against violence and disorder, and by protecting the innocent against deception and the weak against oppression; and THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City o f Lino Lakes, Minnesota do hereby proclaim the: WEEK OF MAY 1 2 TH TO MAY 18 TH to be POLICE WEEK a nd call upon all citizens of Lino Lakes and upon all patriotic, civic and educational organizations to observe the week of May 1 2 - 18, 2013 , as Poli ce Week with appropriate ceremonies and observances in which all of our people may join in commemorating law enforcement officers, past and present, who, by their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities, have rendered a dedicated service to t heir communities and, in so doing, have established for themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for preserving the rights and security of all citizens. ________________________ Jeff Reinert , Mayor Julie Bartel l, City C ler k
