<br />WS – Item #9 <br /> <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item No. 9 <br /> <br /> <br />Date: August 5 , 2013 <br /> <br />To: City Council <br /> <br />From: John Swenson, Chief of Police <br /> <br />Re: Police Department Job Vacancy <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At the July 1, 2013 Council Work Session the current job vacancy i n the police <br />department was discussed. The staff report from that Work Ses sion is attached for your <br />review. <br /> <br />Since the July 1 st Work Session we have received a letter of resignation from an officer. <br />This will create an additional vacant sworn position in the patrol division effective <br />August 11, 2013. <br /> <br />Staff has completed a patrol staffing evaluation as requested and that report is attached <br />for your review as well . <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Council Direction <br /> <br />Staff request Council direction regarding the filling of a vacant Sergeant Position , <br />backfilling an O fficer position, and filling the pending vacant Officer position. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />1.
