WS — Item 4 <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item No. 4 <br />Date: February 4, 2019 <br />To: City Council <br />From: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br />Re: Recreation Complex Discussion <br />Background <br />Mr. Jason Amberg from WSB Engineering attended the January work session to review <br />an updated master plan and preliminary cost estimates for Phase 1A (area immediately <br />south of Fire Station), and Phase 1B (ball field area). <br />The attached updated Recreation Complex Masterplan reflects comments made at last <br />month's work session. Phase 1A - Option A (Two additional pickleball courts and full <br />size basketball court) has been incorporated into the masterplan as well as the addition of <br />sand volleyball courts at the south end. <br />A memorandum providing an overview of updated cost estimates reflecting the changes <br />are attached. <br />The total estimated cost for Phase 1A Base Development is $592,232.55, including <br />contingency and design fees. This does not include the park shelter ($45,000) and full <br />size basketball court ($25,000). <br />Secured funding amounts to $375,000. Staff has identified potential funding sources to <br />fill the gap: <br />$137,000 Remaining portion of 2018 Parks and Trail Capital Projects Fund <br />$ 80,233 Dedicated Parks Fund <br />Requested Council Direction <br />For informational purposes. Staff will need further direction if the City Council wishes to <br />proceed with construction. <br />
