Planning & Zoning Board
January 9, 2019
Page 4
APPROVED MINUTES
The Board and staff discussed specific parcels with multiple vehicles parked on the
property.

Driveway Widths

Mr. Grochala explained current driveway requirements. The City limits driveway
widths to 26’ at the public right of way. The driveway can increase in width at a 45
degree angle.

Mr. Evenson, Ms. Peacock, and Mr. Laden agreed with 26’. Mr. Laden suggested
educating contractors and homeowners.

Mr. Stimpson acknowledged the move towards more sidewalks and an issue arises
when people park on sidewalks in the 12’ area.

Chair Tralle said he would like the driveway to go the width of the garage. Mr.
Grochala explained there is not a standard for garage width and there needs to be a
driveway standard. Chair Tralle suggested 30’.

Mr. Stimpson stated that this issue needs to be caught before the house in the hands of
the homeowners.

Mr. Evenson asked how many driveways get cut. Staff noted that 5-6 driveways get
cut each year. There were 500 driveways permits were pulled in the last 5 years.

Staff detemined there was not enough support to propose a change at this time.

Metal Roofs

Mr. Laden and Mr. Root suggested allowing exposed fasteners if they are color
matched.

Mr. Stimpson and Ms. Peacock disagreed with having exposed fasteners.

Mr. Grochala stated that most cities allow standing seam but staff will research.

Mr. Stimpson noted the difference on who is able to install exposed and un-exposed
fasteners.

C. Project Updates

Anoka County will be doing a full depth reclaim from the S curve to Centerville Road
in 2019. They are in the planning process of reconstructing Hokah to the S curve in
2021. The County is working with the school district on access points. Anoka County
is currently looking at putting roundabouts in at West Shadow and Tomahawk Trail.
Plans include a future access to Enid Trail. Roundabouts are being considered. Ms.
