CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Karissa Bartholomew, Human Resources Manager <br />MEETING DATE: January 14, 2019 <br />TOPIC: Appointment of Police Offer <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Jacob Cree for the vacant Police Officer <br />position. <br />BACKGROUND <br />There is currently a Police Officer vacancy within the Public Safety Department. At this time, <br />staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, and is recommending <br />the approval of Jacob Cree for the position. <br />Mr. Cree has over 10 years of experience as an EMT, 6 years of experience as a Firefighter, and <br />recently completed his Associates Degree in Law Enforcement and meets all POST mandated <br />requirements to be a Police Officer in the State. <br />The hourly rate would be $28.98, which is step 1.5 of the LELS Labor Contract. The Police <br />Officer wage schedule has four steps. With the Council's approval, Cree would start in the <br />position of Police Officer on February 4, 2019. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the appointment of Jacob Cree to the Police Officer position effective February 4, 2019. <br />
