<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1H <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Lisa Hogstad-Osterhues, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: August 13, 2018 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 18-101, Approving an Application <br />for a Temporary On-Sale Liquor License and a Special <br />Event Permit during Blue Heron Days for the American <br />Legion Post 566 <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote Required) <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />American Legion Post 566 has applied for a Temporary On-Sale Liquor License and a <br />Special Event Permit during the Blue Heron Days Festival, August 17th - 19th. <br /> <br />The American Legion will be fencing off a portion of their property on the south side of <br />their building. The Minnesota Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division requires a 1 <br />– 4 Day Temporary On- Sale Liquor License to allow the consumption of alcohol in this <br />outdoor area. The applicant is required to submit their request to the City for local <br />approval before the application is submitted to the state for final consideration. <br /> <br />The Legion has submitted to the City an application for a Special Event. The application <br />has been reviewed by staff, including the public safety department, and the applicant has <br />been provided with a list of safety conditions. The applicant has agreed to comply with <br />the conditions and to address any other safety considerations that may arise. <br /> <br />Therefore, staff is presenting for city council consideration a resolution authorizing the <br />issuance of a Temporary On-Sale Liquor License and a Special Event Permit for the <br />American Legion Post 566. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Approve Resolution No. 18-101 authorizing issuance of a 1-4 Day Temporary On- Sale <br />Liquor License and a Special Event Permit during Blue Heron Days for the American <br />Legion Post 566. <br />
