<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6A i & ii <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee PE, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: October 8, 2018 <br /> <br />TOPIC: 2018 West Shadow Lake Area Street and Utility Improvement <br />Project <br /> <br />i) Consider Resolution No. 18-127, Accepting bids, <br />Awarding a Construction Contract <br /> <br />ii) Consider Resolution No. 18-128 Approving <br />Construction Services Contract with WSB and <br />Associates <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting council authorization to accept bids, award construction contract, and <br />approving construction services contract with WSB and Associates for the 2018 West Shadow <br />Lake Drive Area Street Reconstruction and Municipal Utility Extension Projects. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On July 23, 2018 the City Council approved Resolution No. 18-86 ordering the improvement, <br />approving the plans and specifications, and authorizing the advertisement for bids for the West <br />Shadow Lake Drive Area Street Reconstruction and Municipal Utility Extension Projects. On <br />September 24, 2018 the Council held the Assessment Hearing on proposed Assessments for the <br />extension of municipal utilities. There were no objections to the proposed Assessments. The <br />project to be awarded includes street reconstruction, drainage improvements, and extension of <br />sanitary sewer and water utilities to adjacent properties. <br /> <br />Bids were received for the above-referenced project on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. A total of <br />four bids were received. The bids were checked for mathematical accuracy and tabulated. The <br />bids included a base bid and two alternates. Alternate 1 included watermain and sanitary sewer <br />improvements (southern trunk), totaling $158,578.01. Alternate 2 included watermain <br />improvements (middle trunk), totaling $103,163.01. Staff recommends award of the base bid <br />and alternates 1 and 2. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
