MEETING DATE: December 10, 2018 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution 18-181, Authorize the Preparation of <br />Plans and Specs, 2019 Mill & Overlay Project <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting Council authorization to prepare plans and specifications for the 2019 Mill <br />and Overlay Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In accordance with the City’s Pavement Management Plan, streets are identified for annual <br />maintenance. The pavement management plan analyzes the conditions for the bituminous roadways <br />within the City, and recommends maintenance and repair strategies for the streets depending on <br />their conditions. Streets were selected for the 2019 Mill and Overlay Project based on pavement <br />management criteria, coring reports, input from Public Works, traffic volumes, and feasibility of <br />locations. <br /> <br />The proposed 2019 Mill and Overlay Project includes: <br /> <br />Full Depth Mill and Overlay / Reclamation – Sherman Lake Road, Merganser Court, <br />Sherman Lake Court, Sherman Lake Circle, Pheasant Hills Drive (cul-de-sac) <br /> Mill and Overlay 2” – Fire Station No. 1 parking lot <br /> Full Depth Mill and Overlay / Reclamation: Alternate – Deerwood Lane (south section) <br /> <br />The project is estimated to cost $506,000 including contingency and overhead costs. The <br />alternate to add the south section of Deerwood Lane is estimated to cost an additional $120,000. <br />The project is funded through the annual Pavement Management Fund. The budget for 2019 is <br />$618,000. <br /> <br />WSB & Associates, the City Engineer, have submitted a proposal to complete the plans and <br />specifications, and provide bid documents, for the not to exceed cost of $37,784.00 based on actual <br />time spent on the project. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
