<br />WS – Item 6 <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item No. 6 <br /> <br /> <br />Date: March 4, 2019 <br /> <br />To: City Council <br /> <br />From: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br /> <br />Re: Recreation Complex Discussion <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The City Council discussed this topic at last month’s work session and directed staff to <br />place this on the March work session agenda. <br /> <br />The total estimated cost for Phase 1A Base Development is $592,232, including contingency <br />and design fees. The City Council has previously designated $375,000 to fund this first <br />phase. Staff has identified the following funding sources to fill the gap: <br />(1) $137,000 from 2018 Parks and Trails Capital Projects Fund <br />(2) $80,232 from the Dedicated Parks Fund. <br /> <br />There was also discussion considering placing the development of Phase 1A on the ballot for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />The master plan and cost estimates for Phase 1A are attached. The proposed development <br />includes six pickleball courts, two tennis courts, parking lot, trails, and landscaping. The <br />shelter and basketball court are not reflected in the base development costs. <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Council Direction <br /> <br />For informational purposes. Staff will need further direction if the City Council wishes to <br />proceed with construction. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
