constructed to hold the uncemented portion of the formation open, and thus obtain <br />representative water quality and test pumping results. The cost of the screened test well <br />is $75,000 to $80,000. With the screened well construction, the uncemented portion of <br />the aquifer would be sealed off by a deeper well casing so the water would only be <br />coming from the lower portion of the aquifer. Based on input from the well drillers <br />(Traut and Barott), they believe that with the screened well and sealing off the portion of <br />the Prairie du Chien, that this would eliminate the sediment. Therefore, making this <br />location a potential location for a future municipal well. <br />Requested Council Direction <br />If the Council would like to move forward, staff recommends a screened test well and is <br />seeking Council direction to obtain a quote for a screened test well.
