2 <br />Recycling and Solid Waste: <br />15.Coordinates the City’s solid waste and recycling programs. <br />Forestry: <br />16.Administers City Emerald Ash Borer plan diseased tree control program, tree inventory, hazard tree <br />assessment for public property trees, tree preservation plan reviews, maintain public property trees <br />(replace, plant fertilize, pest control, etc.) and coordinates boulevard tree planting. <br />Other: <br />17. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. <br />Note: These examples are intended only as illustrative of various types of work performed, and are not all- <br />inclusive. The City reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments. <br />REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES <br />1.Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and members of the public; <br />the ability to maintain effective working relationships. <br />2. The ability to work independently and set departmental goals and work plans. <br />3.The ability to attend evening meetings when required. <br />4. Knowledge of environmental trends, development procedures, habitat preservation and methods of <br />modern forestry techniques. <br />5.The ability to use Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. <br />6. Knowledge of commonly used budgeting practices, as well as the ability to perform arithmetic <br />computations. <br />7.Skill in the application of time and project management principles. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />1.Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Forestry Management <br />Biology, Soil Sciences or related field. <br />2.One year experience in environmental or natural resources. <br />3.Valid driver’s license. <br />4.MN Tree Inspector’s Certification within one year of hire. <br />5.MN Erosion Control Installer Certification within one year of hire. <br />PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS <br />1.Three to five years of experience in planning, forestry or environmental services. <br />2.Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Soil Sciences, Civil Engineering or related <br />field. <br />3. Experience or ability to work with GIS. <br />4.Certified Wetland Delineator. <br />5.Licensed pesticide applicator.
