The mounts for the rear leaf springs and shackles are extremely rusty and will need to be addressed. During
the inspecƟon it was discovered that one of the rear sway bar end-links had failed. We will be replacing both
of the rear sway bar end links in the next couple of days.
I would recommend to replace Vehicle #402 with a Ford F-550 with the Swaploader hook system installed.
This would be similar to Vehicle #262, see photos below. This truck has been extremely popular at the Public
Works Department. We currently have three different aƩachments that go on the rear of the truck and have
discussed purchasing addiƟonal aƩachments. Unfortunately, it is fairly common for mulƟple departments to
want to use some of the aƩachments at the same Ɵme. Recently, the Streets Department was using the reg-
ular dumpbox aƩachment with their asphalt hot box mounted, when they were informed that the Parks De-
partment wanted to use the truck with the chipper box aƩachment for chipping trees. Another example,
there were mulƟple instances over the winter where the Streets Department wanted to use the brine aƩach-
ment to pre-treat the roads before a snow storm and the Parks Department wanted to use the chipper box
aƩachment for trimming trees at the same Ɵme. As the number of aƩachments that we have conƟnues to
grow, I can foresee conflicts quite regularly. Having a vehicle in the Parks Department as well as the Streets
Department that is capable of hooking up to all of our various aƩachments would completely eliminate the
conflicts of trying to share the current “hook truck”. With Vehicle #402 being recommended for replacement,
now would be an opƟmal Ɵme to order the replacement truck with the rear Swaploader hook system instead
of the standard dumpbox.
94
