CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 19-95 <br />CONDITIONAL OFFER TO SARAH COTTON <br />FOR CITY ADMINISTRATOR POSITION <br />WHEREAS, City Administrator Jeff Karlson has informed the City Council he will be retiring in <br />2020, and strongly endorsed Finance Director Sarah Cotton as his successor; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Cotton possesses all the qualities needed for this position by exemplifying strong <br />leadership, demonstrating initiative and creativity, displaying excellent analytical and organizational <br />skills, performing her current job responsibilities exceptionally well, and by earning the respect of <br />everyone she works with; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Cotton will be completing her Master's Degree in Public Administration from <br />Hamline University in August 2019; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council and management team have had the opportunity to work with Sarah <br />the past four years and have been impressed with her professionalism, positive energy, initiative, <br />enthusiasm, and character; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to affirm its commitment to Cotton by formally adopting this <br />resolution, which sets forth the Council's intention to promote Cotton to the City Administrator <br />position. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lino Lakes City Council hereby confirms its <br />support of Sarah Cotton as the next City Administrator upon the retirement of Jeff Karlson. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council initiates the necessary steps to formalize an <br />Employment Agreement with Ms. Cotton following Karlson's official announcement of his <br />retirement date in 2020. <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 12th day of August 2019. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Council Member <br />Rafferty and was duly seconded by Council Member Stoesz and upon vote <br />being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Rafferty, Stoesz, Maher, Manthey, Reinert <br />The following voted against same: <br />none <br />ATTEST: <br />a ne Bartell, 1 ity C erk <br />
