CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 6F
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer

MEETING DATE: March 25, 2019
TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 19-34, Approving Payment No. 1 and Final, 2019 Surface Water Maintenance Project

VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5

INTRODUCTION
Staff is requesting council consideration, approve payment for the 2019 Surface Water
Maintenance Project.
BACKGROUND

The City’s annual Surface Water Management Program (SWMP) addresses areas in need of
maintenance, and conforms to the City’s Surface Water Pollution and Prevention Plan. In the last
two years the City’s SWMP has been addressing pond cleaning projects. This type of work is best completed in the winter season.
The 2019 SWMP was proposed within the Wollan Estates neighborhood. The project included
the removal of vegetation and sediment in the stormwater pond located west of Diane Street. The
construction contract was in the amount of $43,600.00 and the final payment earned by the
contractor for this project is $49,000.00. The project was successfully completed in the first two weeks of March with additional sediment removed to maximize pond volume. The final payment to Arnt Construction Company is for $49,000.00. The total budget for the 2019 Surface Water
Maintenance Project is $140,000.00. The City has a lengthy list of Surface Water Maintenance
Projects to complete. Because we received favorable bids for the Wollan Estates pond sediment
removal project, staff is working with Public Works to identify and complete a second surface
water maintenance project in 2019.
RECOMMENDATION

Consider Resolution No. 19-34, Approving Payment No. 1 and Final, 2019 Surface Water
Maintenance Project in the amount of $49,000.00 to Arnt Construction Company.

ATTACHMENTS
1. Resolution 19-34 2. Pay Request No. 1 & Final
