CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA ITEM 1I
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Lisa Hogstad-Osterhues, Deputy City Clerk
MEETING DATE: August 12, 2019
TOPIC Consider Resolution No. 19-105, Authorizing issuance
of a Special Event Permit and 1-4 Day Temporary Liquor
for Hammerheart Brewing Company’s 2nd Annual Event.
VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5
INTRODUCTION
City Code Chapter 615 are the City’s regulations regarding special events. The purpose of these
regulations is to protect the health, safety and welfare of citizens by regulating time, place and
manner of conduct by establishing permit requirements. The City charges a fee of $50 for a
special event permit as well as a $50 fee for a 1-4 Day Temporary Liquor License.
BACKGROUND
The City has received an application from Hammerheart Brewing Company to hold a special
event on September 7th 2019, and an application for a 1-4 day temporary liquor permit which
allows service of alcoholic beverages outside during that special event.
Hammerheart Brewing would like to rope off an area around the front of their building by the
patio. They will have leather crafters, jewelers and weavers present. Since food is involved, a
condition is being attached to the permit requiring food vendors to receive permission from
Anoka County Environmental Services.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff has reviewed Hammerheart’s application for a special event permit and determined that it
meets the requirements of the city code. Therefore it is recommended that the council consider
Resolution No. 19-105, Authorizing Issuance of a Special Event Permit. Final approval is
contingent upon final review and sign off by city staff and the Public Safety Department.
ATTACHMENTS
Resolution No. 19-105
