STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED: <br />INTRODUCTION <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA <br />ITEM 1F <br />Lisa Hogstad-Osterhues, Deputy City Clerk <br />September 9, 2019 <br />Resolution No. 19-112, Approving a Special Event <br />Permit for the Alexandra House Hopefest Charity Walk <br />and Community Event <br />3/5 <br />The Alexandra House is hosting Hopefest Charity Walk and Community Event on Saturday, <br />September 28. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Alexandra House will be hosting the Hopefest Charity Walk and Community Event at <br />the YMCA. As part of the event there will be food trucks on site as well as a variety of <br />vendors and exhibitors. <br />There will be a variety of events taking place such as a 2 mile walk, kidz dash, yard games, <br />bounce house and an obstacle course. <br />There will be live music and a speaker for the duration of the event which is from 9:00 a.m. <br />until 2:00 p.m. <br />The Alexandra House has also applied for and received a Special Use Permit from Anoka <br />County to use the trail behind the YMCA. The 2 mile walk and Kidz Dash map is attached. <br />There will be bathrooms available at the YMCA as well as two ADA compliant portable <br />toilets and two standard portable toilets. <br />There will be first aid kits on -site at designated booths. <br />They anticipate there will be approximately 500-700 participants. They will be selling <br />tickets to ensure crowd control. All participants are required to register before they enter the <br />event. Everyone who has purchased admission will receive a wristband indicating they are <br />part of the event. <br />The applications and the certificate of liability insurance have been submitted to cover all <br />of the above events and is filed in the office of the City Clerk. There is not a fee as the <br />Alexandra House is a non-profit. <br />
