CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6G <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala, Community Development Director <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: December 9, 2019 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 19-166, Approving Minnesota <br />Department of Health Grant Agreement <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Staff is requesting City Council approval to enter into an Agreement for Grant funding through <br />the Minnesota Department of Health for updating the City’s Wellhead Protection Plan. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City Council adopted the City’s Wellhead Protection Plan in April of 2016. Since that <br />time Well No.6 was brought on-line and the City is reviewing the feasibility of Well No. 7. <br />Staff is proposing to update the plan, as required, to evaluate the impact(s) of the facilities on <br />the City’s Drinking Water source Management Area (DWSMA) location and aquifer <br />vulnerability. <br /> <br />WSB has proposed to complete this work for $10,000. Staff was successful in obtaining a <br />grant from the Minnesota Department of Health for the project in the amount of $10,000. State <br />funding is available through the Clean Water Fund. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff is recommending that the City Council adopt Resolution 19-166 approving the Minnesota <br />Department of Health Grant Agreement. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />1.
