<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6C <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br /> <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: December 23, 2019 <br /> <br /> <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 19-183, Accepting Quotes, and Awarding a <br />Construction Contract, Irrigation Controller Upgrades Project <br /> <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting authorization to accept quotes and award the construction contract for the <br />Irrigation Controller Upgrades Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Irrigation Controller Upgrades Project includes: <br /> <br />Upgrading the irrigation controllers at fourteen (14) City irrigation systems to water- <br />efficient smart controllers with local moisture sensors. <br /> <br />Quotes for the project were received on November 29th, 2019. The quotes were checked for <br />mathematical accuracy and tabulated. <br /> <br />CONTRACTOR TOTAL QUOTE <br />Northway Irrigation $76,500.85 <br />Mickman Brothers $92,968.25 <br /> <br />The low quote was submitted by Northway Irrigation of Circle Pines, Minnesota, in the amount <br />of $76,500.85. The completion date for this project is August 1st, 2020. On February 27, 2019, <br />the Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD) awarded the City $41,000 for this project through its <br />Urban Stormwater Remediation (USWR) cost-share program. The remaining project costs are the <br />City’s share for the project which will be funded using Water Operating Funds. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 19-183 accepting quotes and awarding a <br />construction contract for the Irrigation Controller Upgrades Project, in the amount of $76,500.85 <br />to Northway Irrigation. <br />
