CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 5A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee <br />MEETING DATE: February 10, 2020 <br />TOPIC: <br />Consider Resolution 20-11, Order Project, Approve the Plans <br />and Specifications and Authorize the Ad for Bid. Well House <br />No. 1 Rehabilitation Project <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Staff is requesting City Council consideration to authorize advertisement for bids for the Well <br />House No. 1 Rehabilitation project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On January 27. 2020, the City Council approved the preparation of the plans and specifications <br />for the Well House No. 1 Rehabilitation project. The project provides equipment upgrades and <br />necessary repairs to the existing Well House No. 1 including: <br />1. The addition of separate internal fluoride and chlorine rooms (within existing well house) <br />and seepage pit per Minnesota Department of Health requirements. <br />2. Rehabilitation of existing Well House No. 1 including a new pitched shingled roof, soffit <br />lighting and exterior siding. <br />3. New exterior door and replacement of existing doors. <br />4. New bituminous driveway and subgrade, and expanded pavement behind the well house <br />for chemical delivery vehicles and well maintenance rig. <br />5. Replacement of existing chemical feed equipment and associated appurtenances. <br />6. Replacement of existing HVAC systems. <br />7. Building additions will be provided with mechanical systems as required to meet the <br />space heating load and ventilation air change rate. <br />8. Replacement of main switchgear and motor control center. <br />9. Replace existing control panel and other electrical equipment inside the well house (i.e. <br />lights, receptacles. switches, cable and conduit, etc.). <br />10. Replacement of well instrumentation, i.e. pressure transducers, prelube solenoid valve, <br />magnetic flow meter, door entry switches, etc. <br />The budget for the project is $625.000. Funding for the project is provided from Water Operating <br />fund. <br />
