Approved November 4, 2019
Page 9

7. Parks Update:
A. Woods Edge Park Update
Rick DeGardner, Director of Public Services, updated the Park Board on the Woods
Edge Park project. He stated that construction of Woods Edge Park is progressing
nicely. Clearing and grubbing, tree removals, grading, draintile catch basin/storm
pipe, all concrete walk, and curbing have been completed. Some additional earthwork
including final grading, installing plant material, dormant seeding, and building a
boulder retaining wall between the north side of play container and the concrete walk
is expected to be completed yet this Fall. He went on state that after all of that the
next thing will be to order the playground equipment during the winter months and
expect a spring installation. He put in an updated landscape plan in the packet (see
below). DeGardner pointed out that some of the changes are:
I. Reducing the amount of retaining wall (this was based on looking at the
slopes)
II. Removal of a couple more trees
III. Moving the stepping stones to the north of the play area a bit to create a
more natural path from the play area to the landscape boulders
IV. Relocated the swamp white oak as a mature tree had to be removed so it is
replacing it
