Enivonmental Board Minutes <br />February 26, 2020 <br />Page 3 <br />DRAFT MINUTES <br /> It was sugguested that maybe just flash the ash trees and continue with <br />replanting trees on the island <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson wanted to thank Wayne LeBlac for his photos, reports and work with the <br />Heron Rookery. <br /> <br />Also the no-wake buoys are damaged and should be replaced, Anoka County has <br />been notified and will be replacing them this spring. <br /> <br />C. Earth Day Preparations <br /> <br />On February 12th, there was a Earth Day planning meeting, which will be held on <br />April 25th at Wargo. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson would like to hear from the board what they would like to have at the <br />Earth Day event. <br /> <br />Mr. Kvendru wonders if the information would need to be updated. <br /> <br />Ms. Andrzejewski stated that we should pick a theme and stick with two or three <br />items because there is too many items on the table. “Less is more” <br /> <br />Ms. Nelson suggested having resources for EAB tree injection. <br /> <br />Ms. Holmes stated that the EAB infestation map would have to be updated. <br /> <br />Ms. Holmes mentioned that seed balls are a hit with the children but we need seeds <br />that flower. It is disappointing to not have the seeds produce anything. <br /> <br />Ms. Andrzejewski wanted to know if anyone from the city will be there to discuss the <br />manganese in the city water. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson let the board know that the city newsletter contained a lot of information <br />on community gardens, manganese in the water, water conservation, a water usage <br />calculator, and recycling tips. <br /> <br />D. Recycling Updates, Connor Kvendru <br /> <br />“Fix It Clinic” good event about 40 items were fixed which would be a 93 % of items got <br />fixed. Lamps, a sewing machines, coffee machine, vacuum cleaners were a few of the items. <br /> <br />In February at the Saturday recycling, again there was no paper shredding because of broken <br />equipment, so for 2 months there has been no shredding. Which has been disappointing. <br /> <br /> <br />
