COUNCIL MINUTES <br />APPROVED <br />t <br />2 LINO LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br />3 REGULAR MEETING <br />4 MINUTES <br />5 <br />6 DATE : July 13, 2020 <br />7 TIME STARTED : 6:32 p.m. <br />8 TIME ENDED : 7:29 p.m. <br />9 MEMBERS PRESENT : Councilmember Stoesz, Lyden, <br />10 Ruhland, and Mayor Rafferty <br />] i MEMBERS ABSENT Councilmember Cavegn <br />12 <br />13 Staff members present: City Administrator Sarah Cotton; Community Development Director <br />14 Michael Grochala, City Planner Katie Larsen; Human Resources Manager Karissa Bartholomew; <br />15 City Engineer Diane Hankee; Director of Public Safety John Swenson <br />16 <br />17 PUBLIC COMMENT <br />18 Sierra Rasmussen, Lino Lakes resident, beekeeper and fellow beekeepers were present and offered <br />19 to the council a petition, which she read. The petition supports beekeeping in Lino Lakes including <br />20 allowing beekeeping within more zoning districts. Councilmember Lyden noted that <br />21 communication to residents on other ways they can help bees (i.e. less pesticides) could be helpful <br />22 to the cause. <br />23 Betty Mortenson, beekeeper in Ham Lake and treasurer of the local beekeeper's association, <br />24 explained the goal to get Minnesota bee friendly. They acknowledge the issues that concern people <br />25 but feel they can be addressed by education. <br />26 <br />SETTING <br />THE AGENDA <br />27 <br />The agenda <br />was approved as <br />presented. <br />z8 SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />29 <br />Lino Lakes Ambassadors <br />—the 2020 ambassadors spoke <br />to the council on their activities. They <br />30 <br />noted that many activities <br />were cancelled due to COVID <br />] 9 so they have agreed to continue for <br />31 <br />another year. <br />32 <br />American Legion <br />Presentation <br />of Law Enforcement <br />Officer of the Year Award to ]'on Vang and <br />33 <br />Firefighter of the <br />Year Award <br />to Derek Sadowski. <br />34 CONSENT AGENDA <br />35 Councilmember Ruhland moved to approve the Consent Agenda, Items IA through 1L as presented. <br />36 Councilmember Lyden seconded the motion.
