CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 5B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br />MEETING DATE: November 23, 2020 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 20-141, Approving Payment No. 2 and <br />Final, Lift Station No. 5 Forcemain Repair <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Staff is requesting council consideration to finalize the Lift Station No. 5 Forcemain Repair <br />project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On April 27, 2020, the City Council accepted the quote for the Lift Station No. 5 Forcemain <br />Repair from GM Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $150,421.21. Lift Station No. 5 is located <br />within the Pheasant Hill neighborhood. The sanitary sewer from Lift Station No. 5 is pumped <br />through a forcemain to the gravity trunk sewer located west at Timberwolf Trail. This section <br />of forcemain was corroding and had numerous failures in the spring of 2020. A new 1,800 foot <br />long forcemain was directionally drilled. <br />The total construction budget included a contingency for add on items to address the unknown <br />field conditions related to groundwater and the location of existing utilities. The overall project <br />construction budget was $175,000.00. The final construction cost was $171,916.29 which was <br />under the budget. Funding for the project is from the Water Operating Fund. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve Resolution No. 20-141, Approving Payment No. 2 and Final, Lift Station No. 5 <br />Forcemain Repair in the amount of $9,481.21 to GM Contracting, Inc. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
