STAFF ORIGINATOR:
MEETING DATE:
REQUEST:
TOPIC:
BACKGROUND:
ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD
AGENDA ITEM 7A
Andy Nelson
March 31, 2021
Environmental Board recommendation on SWAAT
meeting minutes
Solid Waste Abatement Advisory Team (SWAAT) meeting
minutes
Anoka County holds bi-monthly meetings of the Solid Waste Abatement Advisory Team
(SWAAT). Recycling coordinators for Anoka County cities, Anoka County recycling staff, and
representatives from the waste management industry (haulers) are in attendance. At these
meetings, updates on the recycling and waste management industry are provided, as well as
updates on programs managed by member cities.
Minutes from the October 28th, 2020 SWAAT meeting were included in this month's packet.
These are the most recent approved minutes. Generally, there will be a three month lag between
the meeting date and distribution of approved minutes.
In the future, these meeting minutes can be:
1. Placed on the Environmental Board agenda and included in the packet.
2. Emailed to Environmental Board members before meetings. If members find items that
they'd like to discuss, we can add them to the agenda or discuss them during recycling
updates.
3. Summarized by staff during recycling updates, as has been done by interns in the past.
While staff recommends option 2, as it provides the most flexibility for our Environmental Board
meetings, we're open to any other ideas the Board might have as well.
ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD DIRECTION:
Environmental Board recommendation regarding presentation of SWAAT meeting minutes.
