A special meeting of the Park Committee and Planning and Zoning Board park committee <br /> was held Tuesday, February 27, 1979 at 7:30 P.M. Members attending: Charles Cheese- <br /> orough, Tom Shaughnessy, Ken Johnson, Vi Schwankl , Jerome Heath. Mr. Zelinka also attend <br /> The Committee determined that the City presently owns more than 100 park acres which <br /> contain two little leagae fields, five soft ball fields, one hockey rink, two pleasure <br /> skating rinks and area designed for soccor and football . <br /> The property on 20th Avenue owned by Mr. Herbst was discussed with Mr. Zelinka noting <br /> that he and Mr. Shaughnessy is to get together with Mr. Herbst to discuss possible <br /> terms for the City to acquire this property as well . <br /> Mr. Shaughnessy had talked to Mr. bill Houle owns a large amount of property in the <br /> Northeast section of the City about possible park sites. Mr. Houle indicated he <br /> might sell land to the City at the time his land is developed at the same price <br /> the contractor will pay. <br /> The committee noted areas that will need special attention for parks in the near <br /> future. <br /> At 8:30 P.M. the Clerk had to leave and Mrs. Schwankl noted these final notes: <br /> The Park Board at this point is only asking for the P & Z W p and meanwhile they <br /> are going to come with a plan within six weeks. They will get advice from the <br /> Council , legal counsel and possibly start talking to some land owners in the <br /> Southern part of the City and Northeastern part of the City and also in the MMTC area. <br /> The Park Board will keep the P & Z fully informed and anytime something comes that <br /> may help the Park Board, the P & Z will let them know. <br /> n <br />
