The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission was <br /> called to order at 8:30 P.M., Monday, August 21 , 1978 by Chairman Resch. Members present: <br /> Resch, Liljedahl , Johnson, Crouse. Members absent: Foster, Scherer, Shaughnessy. Mayor <br /> "_"�')rth was also present. <br /> dr. Resch asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of May 15, 1978. <br /> There were none and Mr. Resch declared the minutes stand approved as written. <br /> Mr. Resch asked if there were any additions or corrections to the June 19, 1978 minutes. <br /> There were none and Mr. Resch declared the minutes stand approved as written. <br /> There was no meeting in July. <br /> Mayor Karth asked if a name had been chosen for the park next to City Hall . Mr. Resch said <br /> none had been chosen and felt more Board members should be present to consider names. <br /> Mrs. Liljedahl suggested conducting a contest at Lino Elementary School and have a school <br /> child name the park for a $5.00 prize. Mrs. Liljedahl will handle the contest and bring <br /> the entries to the Council so they can select the winning entry. <br /> Sunset Oaks <br /> The Council has asked the Park Board to determine what equipment would be needed in the first <br /> tot lot to be included In the Sunset Oaks Plat. <br /> Mrs. Anderson had checked the minutes of the final hearing on Sunset Oaks and it was deter- <br /> mined that the developer should have established an escrow for 10% of the assessed market <br /> value. In further reviewing the plat the members could not determine the location of the <br /> ,`free parks. <br /> Mrs. Liljedahl moved to have the Clerk write to the developer and ask him to define the <br /> designated park areas that will be the two tot lots and the one park area for ballfields. <br /> Mr. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion declared passed. <br /> Mayor Karth asked the Board if they had received a map of the park that is located on 7th <br /> Avenue off of Birch Street. He felt the Board should be considering how this park is to be <br /> developed. The Clerk will check with Mr. Gotwald to obtain a map. <br /> Tour East Side <br /> The Board members will meet at City Hall at 9:00 A. M. Saturday, September 9, 1978 to tour <br /> the ease side of the City to look for possible park locations. <br /> Mayor Karth told the Board that wood chips by the simi-truck load could be bought from Webster <br /> Lumber located in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. There is an outlet in Wayzata. Transportation would <br /> probably be the only cost. Mr. Resch felt wood chips could be placed under bleachers and <br /> other areas difficult to mow. <br /> The Centennial Hockey Association had sent a letter to the Park Board requesting a second <br /> hockey rink at Sunrise Park. Mrs. Liljedahl felt this would be difficult to provide at <br /> this time. <br /> Vandalism and rink use was discussed. Mayor Karth suggested building a good rink and fen- <br /> ,o­4ng it and charge rental . The Clerk was asked to invite the Hockey Association and Mr. <br /> Ik to the next Park Board meeting to discuss this matter further. <br /> Budget <br /> Budget request will be needed by the September 18, 1978 meeting. Members should bring sugg- <br /> estions to the September 9, 1978 tour meeting. <br />
