April 19, 1976 <br /> ^. The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes Parks, Recreational and Enviornmental Commission <br /> was called to order at 8:02 P.M. April 19, 1976 by Chairman Resch. Member present: <br /> Leljedahl , Gredvig, Resch, Scherer, Hanson and Ringaman. Robert Schneider, Council <br /> liaison was also present. Members absent: Dick Olson. <br /> Kart' Ferrence representing the Blue Heron soft ball team was present and asked the <br /> Commission if it was possible to develope the ball field in Sunrise Park at Sunrise <br /> and Glenview Street at the south west corner of the Park. He said if the City would <br /> supply the fence and backstop and transport them to the site he and his friends <br /> would install them saving labor expenses. <br /> After discussing the cost involved and whether Council action is needed Mr. Gredvig <br /> moved to recommend to the Council that a backstop and fencing be moved to Sunrise <br /> Park. Mr. Scherer 2nd the motion. Motion carried. Mrs. Anderson was directed <br /> to ask Mrs. Sarner to call each Council member to see if Council action was needed <br /> and then to let Mr. Ferrence know of their decision on Tuesday April 20, 1976. Mrs. <br /> Anderson was also asked to contact Mr. Volk and let him know about transporting <br /> the backstop and fencing from City Hall to Sunrise Park. <br /> Tournaments and fees for tournaments were discussed with Mr. Ferrance. Mr. Ferrance <br /> was instructed to contact the Commission far in advance of a planned tournament <br /> so that the tournament date can be set. <br /> Mr. Ringaman arrived. <br /> Mr. Gredvig moved to recommend that the Council devise some systi§m of regular maint- <br /> enance of all safty equipment such as the fire extinguishers and first aid kits. <br /> 2nd by Mr. Scherer. Motion carried. Mr. Ringaman felt the Council should also <br /> consider installing a fire extinguisher and first aid kit at the Sunrise Park warm- <br /> ing house and where else needed. <br /> Mrs. Liljedahl read her list of needed repairs to park equipment: <br /> Fencing - Fence area in Sunrise Park where old lumber and discarded items are <br /> piled. <br /> Sunrise Storage Barn - Support poles need to be made more secure, upstairs floor <br /> needs reinforcing and broken window needs replacing. <br /> Also lock needs repair. Mr. Scherer will ask Mr. Mobley <br /> to loo-k at the barn and recommend needed repairs. Mrs. <br /> Anderson will contact Mr. Scherer later in the week and <br /> find out Mr. Mobley's recommendation. <br /> Lino Park - Fix broken swing. <br /> Concrete under jungle gym needs gravel around it so that it will <br /> not protrude. <br /> All equipment needs painting. <br /> Lino Park Bail Field - The outfield fence is to close in the ballfield. <br /> Mr. Schneider would like someone to contact Mr. Gessler and get some community <br /> help in maintain ing the Parks. <br /> Mr. Volk is checking the cost of limerock for the balifields. Mr. Resch would like <br /> a small pile of limerock at City Hall for repair of the balifields. <br /> Mr. Schneider asked how many park users were Lino Lakes residents? Mr. Resch thought <br /> about 80%. Mr. Gredvig said he would like to see a study of who uses the Parks and <br /> where they live. Its something to think about. <br />
