March 15, 1976 <br /> The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes Parks, Recreational and Enviornmental <br /> ' `ter Commission was-to be held March 15, ! 976. A quorum was r-t present but a dis- <br /> cussion was held. Members present: Mr. Ringaman, Gredvic, and Mr. Resch. <br /> Members absent: Mr. Olson, Liljedahl , Scherer and Mr. Hanson. Mr. Schneider was <br /> also present. <br /> Mr. Schneider presented Mr. Warren Ahlers of Shenandoah. Mr. Ahlers showed the <br /> Commission a score board which could be erected in the City Parks at no cost to <br /> the City. The monies paid by those who advertise on the score board would pay <br /> the cost of erecting and maintaining the score board for a period of four years. <br /> The score board is 10' hiah and 20' wide. Each advertisement would be I ' by 41 . <br /> Mr. Ahlers said there could be some porblem as to whether or not the score hoards <br /> with Liquor ads can be erected in fields where Little League Baseball is played. <br /> Mr, Ahlers and Mr. Schneider will discuss the score board with the Council March <br /> 22, 1976. <br /> The Commission thanked Mr. Ahlers for coming and showing them the score board. <br /> A letter from the Lino Lakes Area Recreation Assn. stating the 1976 Summer Boys <br /> and Girls Ball Program was received. <br /> Mrs. Arlene Averbeck presented the Commission with her thought and ideas regard- <br /> ing a Small Tot Program for the Lino Lakes Park. She feels the Park is lacking <br /> in equipment for small children and what is thereis dangerous. She felt the grounds <br /> could be upgraded for small children and the play equipment improved. Mr. Ringaman <br /> expressed his concern for the upkeep of the equipment. He also felt that there <br /> should be some adult supervision if small children cid use the area . Mrs. Averback <br /> said she personally felt this should be done before more consideration was given <br /> to hockey or baseball . <br /> Mr. Ringaman asked Mrs. Averback if she could interest some of the surrounding <br /> families in putting some free time in upgradina and maintaining the Lino Lakes <br /> -Park as a community function. Mrs. Averback said she didn't know the people well <br /> enough to try and start such a program. <br /> Mrs. Averback was asked to itemize some items she had checked on and also itemize <br /> some of the less costly items for the Commission to see. She was also asked to draw <br /> a diagram showing the location of­the ewuipment needed for the ideal park and the <br /> cost. <br /> She was asked to contact %1r. Ringaman early in the summer or late spring and go <br /> over the plan with him. The Commission thanked her for coming. <br /> The Commission would like to have Don Volk at the next Commission meeting to go <br /> over maintance of the Parks with him. The Commission would like to meet with him <br /> at regular intervals. <br /> Mr. Locher told Mr. Schneider that Section #19 of Ord nance #GI is now obsolute. <br /> The Ordinance will not be changed since it involves costly hearings etc. <br /> Mrs. Anderson was asked to check further on Federal Funds For Bikeways reported in <br /> the REVIEW bulletin. <br /> Mr. Ringaman expressed concern that there is not an express amount of money avail- <br />
