FEBRUARY 17, 1975 <br /> -3- <br /> Next on the agenda was a discussion of Lino Park and Mr. McLean reported <br /> ti that the lions Club will probably donate the remainder of their <br /> committment to the City this year so the Park can be completed this <br /> spring. The park has been seeded, graded, the infield has been limed and <br /> the fences are Installed In the front, the Hollywood bases that were order- <br /> ed are here for the ball park, trees have been planted in the fron of the <br /> park but some will have to be replanted in the early spring to accomodate <br /> the parking areas that have been laid out. There was no allowance made <br /> for the two entrances from the highway and there will have to be. No major <br /> prolhems are anticiapted with moving the trees. <br /> Mr. Gourley advised the Park Commission that there will be a motion made <br /> to nams the Liao Park the *1,c,l Kline Memorial. P;,;°k" when it is dedicated <br /> in the Spring. Mr. Kilns was a very active member In the Lions Club and <br /> in many Cityactivities, Mr. Gourley asked if inhere was anyone on <br /> the Commi ion w!,o wog I d object to the renaming of the park and then <br /> he made a -notion to reo:^mnend to the Council that the Lino Park be <br /> named the Mel Kline or Mliford Kline Memorial Park at the time of the <br /> dedication. The final selection of the name for the park will be left <br /> to the discretion of the family, if the motion passes the Council and <br /> the Lions . Mrs . LeTourneau seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Mclean reps r+c-d to the Commisslion that so far only hIs appointment <br /> to the Chain of roes Park has been confir-med and he asked the Clerk <br /> :o contact Mr. Torkiidson and aske when the other appointment for this <br /> area will be confirmed and when the meetings will be scheduled. He also <br /> stated that there have been quite a bit of trouble with the gquipment <br /> used to sweep the rinks this year and that Mr. Bolk has been instructed <br /> to check with an International Dealer on the best way to solve the <br /> p rob I erns w i th the Sncwb 1 owf;, . There has been some p r ob i ems with the <br /> couplings beingincon.ratible which in turn presents bt.00m trcubies. <br /> Mr. McLean also reported that the City had received a letter from the <br /> Anoka County Commissioners informing the City that Congress had passed <br /> an Emergency Jobs Program for employment of severely disadvantaged or <br /> unemployed residents of Anoka County In public service jobs. Each City <br /> will be provided with funds to pay these employees provided they are new <br /> jobs and not used tc fill current vacancies or to disf,ln-e current employees. <br /> The County is working out a program whereby smaller Ci -ies can have an <br /> employee from a County Crew on an "as needed/on call" basis. <br /> The Commission and Mr. McLean felt that this program would certainly help <br /> to cut some of our costs in the coming months and that the City should <br /> lo.--k into this program. The City of Liao Lakes is eligible for 13,776.00 <br /> /'� in funds. <br />
