April 15, 1974 <br /> The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes Parks , Envio=,ertal and Recreation <br /> Committee was called to order at 8:05 p.m. by Chairman '2cGeary. 'Members <br /> present; Kent, Resch, Clausen, Brisson, LeTourneau. 71bsent; Kendall. Mr. <br /> '1cLean and Mr. Starr was also present. <br /> Mr. Kent moved to accept the minutes of March 17, 1974 as presented. Seconded <br /> by Mr. Clausen. Motion carried. <br /> 'sir. McLean reported to the Board that the fence for Lino Park had been approved <br /> by the Council and the low bid by North Suburban Fence had been accepted. They <br /> will install this fence under the guidance of Mr. Gotwald. The cost of this <br /> fence will be paid by the City as part of the allocation for Parks that was <br /> made last vear in cooperation with the Lions Club. <br /> Mr. Kent and Mr. Resch reported on their plans for the Hall property. The first <br /> item of need at this location is a second ball diamond. The diamonds at the <br /> Lino School that are usually used by the League will not be available this year <br /> due to construction at that site. The diamond at Lino Park will not be ready <br /> for use this year. <br /> They recommended that the pond in front of the City hall be reduced in size by <br /> 2/3's with a fountain in the center. Trees to be planted around the area and <br /> the driveway lined with trees. <br /> Also, in the West and 'Vorth portion of the land a suggested bike trail. They <br /> have more work to be done on this plan including bathroom facilities and water <br /> fountain. They will try and have finished in at-7ee%, or so with the possibility <br /> of a special meeting to consider the additional ball diamond. <br /> Mrs. Brisson asked about the possibility_ oaf tennis courts. Mr. Kent and *sr. Resch <br /> said they have plans for tennis courts, ball nets, volley ball, etc. Mr. <br /> McLean said that space for a double court- hai been graded at the Lino Park. <br /> The Lions' Club had gotten a cost estivate of $11,000.00 for the installation <br /> of the court, back stops, etc. They felt this was beyond their means at this <br /> time. <br /> Mr. Clausen presented the following recommendations for Sunrise Park. <br /> 1) At least two toilet facilities be in the parr: area to handle all the <br /> baseball and softball needs - (satellite or similar facility) the <br /> present structure to be destroyed. <br /> 2) Some water facilites to be made available. <br /> 3) Roads to be repaired and more posts nut in to keep the vehicles on the <br /> ro ads. <br /> 4) All fields should be brought into good ren_air - (backstops, benches, <br /> �\ etc.) <br /> 5) Swings and playground equipment should be checked for repair and security. <br /> 6) Trash cans to be placed in Sunrise Park at all fields and high-use areas. <br />
